Wonderful Musings on What the Next Year Has In Store...

With 2006's Alexander McQueen showing featuring a holographic Kate Moss in a ghostly couture gown and in the years since dresses that transform into other shapes and silhouettes as you walk, LED-lit gowns, and other wild technological applications in fashion, one has to wonder what exactly 2010 will bring. With a barrage of heavy-hitting style advancements like those - really what could they possibly come up with next?

I want to know what will be the next big futuristic movement in style and after seeing this new movie AVATAR, I have a feeling that the trends for the new year or two will be a sexy balance of vintage and way way future. Thoughts?

Bolufe

Boca Raton & West Palm Beach's Bolufe boutiques (3) were just featured a few minutes ago on the Today show. Kudos to them!

Shoppers' insight: the prices of their jeans have been lowered to just $98-$200 due to the economy so get in there and scoop up a few pairs!

Who were you for Halloween?

If you didn't guess I was Grace Jones, send me your Halloween shots!

Robert Verdi Lashes Out For Attention Once More!

When asked about the Ralph Lauren photoshopping scandal and ultra-thin models in the fashion industry in general, celebrity stylist Robert Verdi said, "...It's why I stopped eating. I think food is for fat people and poor people. Rich people don't eat. They get dressed up and go shopping."

No More AFFLICTION, ED HARDY, CHRISTIAN AUDIGIER, OR IMITATORS

NO MORE FREAKING ED HARDY! EVERY WEEKEND IT GETS WORSE. IT'S LIKE A BAD DISEASE FROM HEAD TO TOE IT ENGULFS OBLIVIOUS SHOPPERS' WARDROBES. NO MORE AFFLICTION EITHER OR DAMN CHRISTIAN AUDIGIER. UNLESS IT'S A PAIR OF SNEAKERS OR SUNGLASSES OR A LIGHTER IT IS JUST TOO MUCH OF A LOOK AND NEVER CUTE!
ON TOP OF THAT WHO WANTS TO LOOK LIKE A TACKY CLONE?!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE JUST MAKE IT GO AWAY...

Late Pics Forgot to Post! Luli Fama Swim Show in Swim Week Miami!

This show was all about sexy swimwear that gives a woman so much confidence because you know that you can't help but look super-hot in these cute suits! The show started pretty on time (for fashion week) and I thought the presentation was stand-out among the sea of shows I attended that week. I am definitely even more Luli Fama obsessed now than EVER...
(GENIUSES ADDING SUSPENDERS TO A BARELY-THERE SUIT!)

Fashion TV

OMG. How long has FTV had a studio (right on Lincoln Road no less) in South Beach and how much action have we seen from them? I mean, as far as shoots go I have no idea how much work they are getting but come on, I've never seen an FTV party broadcasted on the channel from Miami. I've been to a few far between each other and they looked nothing like the ones overseas my friends have raved about. Share the hot party wealth with us!

It shouldn't be too hard to visualize an FTV party at Louis or LIV or some other sexy on trend spot. Sigh... somebody do something about it already! : (

Went to the IFW & Tara Ink Swimwear Show @ PLUNGE

It featured the designs of Keva by Keva J, Liza & Tara Resort Wear, & Tyler Rose. They world-premiered the new Beyonce video & started the night off with free Grey Goose. Very lounge-y night. If I wasn't starving about to pass out I would have enjoyed it more though. :)

Proper Cocktail Attire

I must say, I rather do enjoy the fact that Miami's "jacket required" scene for restaurants and other businesses is almost non-existent. I love going in to a top dollar restaurant in jeans with heels - "Miami Chic".

That being said, I was rather unimpressed at a cocktail party that I attended a few nights ago in South Beach. The party was for a formal fashion presentation and though it was not a formal affair, it was a COCKTAIL Party. Don't cocktail parties involve chic dresses, sexy heels, nighttime makeup, etc.? Shouldn't the men be dressed in what they would wear to a nightclub like Liv or Karu & Y? There's a time and place for everything and I was rather bored and disappointed with the daytime chic clothing I saw people wearing, the bored and uninspired hair, and the men wearing outfits they shouldn't wear anywhere. I stood out like a sore thumb in my cocktail wear. You would think I was wearing a floor-length haute couture gown!

Living in a place where we are fortunate enough to have warm weather 99% of the time, we are already spared having to dress up all the time. So why not dress up for these cocktail mixers (especially since this one was for the industry)? Isn't dressing up now and then supposed to be a fun thing?
Please share your thoughts on this subject. I'm dying to know what the general opinion is on this from Miami locals...Thanks!

The 1st Ever Miami Beach Gay Pride!

Today was so much fun (and still is for those going on to hear DJ Abel at Score) that I can't even explain it to you. Amazing vibes, amazing energy. Gay Pride Miami Beach was such a success. I am as proud as ever to be a huge supporter and friend in the South Florida gay community. The biggest trend today was wearing stickers showing your support for causes and political ideals and my fave was the Obama Pride sticker. Go Gay Pride!

Boutique Love

Have to show some love for ALCHEMIST boutique on Lincoln Road. Phenomenal fashion. It's New York brought to Miami - if only these types of looks would take hold and annihilate the overdone, tired, rhinestoned Miami/Vegas look. They carry names like Alaia, Chanel, and Takahashi.

The Good and the Bad and the Ugly

I just wanted to share some notable high and low points of the Fall 2009 Givenchy menswear show.

Let's see if you can figure out which look is the good and which look qualifies to be both the bad and the ugly!

Boo Hoo

Okay, so I'm one of the biggest Nylon fans in the world and I also think that Camilla Belle is absolutely gorgeous. That being said, I can't believe that they put this ugly picture of her on their Feb. cover. She looks like something is wrong with her. I don't get it.

Fit to Be Tied

And yet again Barack Obama makes another big statement on style. He is the only man (other than maybe James Bond) who can actually pull off a bow tie and not look a) foolish, b) stupid, and c) corny.

I won't bore you with my gushings on Michelle's lovely Jason Wu number since you've heard it before and you'll hear it again.

Thing of the Decade

What do women want? Shoes....the higher and skinnier the heel the better.

What do women need? Shoes....the closer to the ground and more
comfortable the better.

What can women get? Comfortable and STYLISH shoes from Cole Haan. The accessories company has done the revolutionary and teamed up with Nike to use their Nike Air Technology to provide "ultimate cushioning".

Unfortunately they're a tad pricey so it's gonna take me a lot of work to pick which pair I want for my birthday. I'm thinking these maybe...
