Union Jack

Yes, we love her... It's true, we do. But I can no longer withstand the over-exposure of our dear, lovely Agy.

A bit more scarcity can help her star power last, me thinks, instead of treating her like the fad of the season!

Lagerfeld Confidentiel

OK, so if you didn't go see this premiere on Thursday, you have better have a good reason why! This documentary on the Karl was funny, candid, and the best damn insider's view into his world. I love Karl even more and I admire his freedom to be as eccentric as he wants to be and his disdain and lack of patience to pick up a needle and a thread.

Most quotable Karl-ism? "Fashion is ephemeral, dangerous, and unfair."

Basically, if you are going to cry and gripe about the way the fashion and modeling business is run then get another job! It's just like the movie biz, not everyone can do it and that's just the way it is! : p

Fashion Week Highlights: 09/21/07

I've never seen disappointing results from Adidas by Stella McCartney and this year's Spring collection is no different. The clothing is cute and very functional but Stella is never in danger of coming up with a boring basics collection. She proves that no matter what the occasion, there is no excuse to not LOOK GOOD. But I must admit I find it quite amusing to see such rail-thin catwalk chicas feigning work-outs as if that's how they keep their sample-sized figures!

Fashion Week Highlights: 09/17/07

My faves from the London Fashion Week shows today are from Danielle Scutt. Daring designs, nothing garden-variety but most everything is wearable and it is all about a sexy and feminine woman.

New Fave Store

Julian Chang, Miami. I never bothered to even go in before since I knew I couldn't afford a thing ( a cardinal sin, I know, I know, I AM a fashion student so I do need to know what's going in there, cash or no cash) so when I finally had a little pocket money to spare I went in, lured by the "$20 SALE" sign. How bad could any item for sale in Julian Chang be? Let's just say I got the deal of a *LIFETIME* and I was lucky enough to meet the designer himself. From what I have seen he is calm, perceptive, and a graciuos gentleman. I am proud to be a student at the same school he hails from and I plan to continue to put in effort above and beyond what is taught in the classroom as he did. Inspiration and a closet update all in one. : )

Where were YOU on Wednesday night?

I know where I was...the afterparty for the launch of the new FTV studio on Lincoln Road. The party was at Gemma Lounge between Pennsylvania and Drexel and though I missed the Sofi Swimwear show the night was a huge success. Models, photographers, the fashionable set - - - maybe the FTV studio can bring the Miami fashion scene back to the point it was before. Only time can tell...

A Princess in Monaco

Here is Melodie, a licensed massage therapist from Delray Beach, on her June vacation to Europe which included Switzerland and Monaco (pictured here). This is outside of a real ball that she was lucky enough to be invited to and she worked the look completely from her cascading fire-hued curls and Chopard jewelry.

Summer Is Here

and if you can't tell that by the way your mascara melts as you hit the door...

Anyway, it's time to amend your wear and routines accordingly - starting off with making sure you have a well-selected stock of sexy, figure-flattering suits to hit the beach. My fave suits are from the Victoria's Secret catalog, most notably the brand SALINAS. For local shopping like on Lincoln Road I would suggest hitting up a local store that knows everything bikini such as Pagaz (1632 Collins) or for the higher price brackets waste no time in major department stores - hit up Alea and Rosa Cha immediately. (Hello? The Brazilians were sexy enough to create Alessandra and Adriana!)

M.A.C Lovers Read This!

I was there today & I needed a few necessities of the makeup persuasion so I pulled over, parked, & got down to business. An artiste who was as helpful as she was beautiful gave me the 411: M.A.C Cosmetics is coming out with a new and very colorful collection in the next few days. Expect anything from blue-tinted lipstick (perfect for da club, she says) to the most sun-shiny of yellow eye shadows...

Building Balenciaga

When does Ghesquiere stop? He's like a mini Karl in training - apparently the new Milanese flagship is like something never done before, something out of this world...

VICTORIA CASAL

Sweet and innocent pink is more grown up than little girl when it's completely iced out! Victoria Casal blends cutesy with sophistication and the result is nothing less than incredible. These pieces can be worn for the everyday but also on special occasions. Playful and humorous in design, you won't be able to say no. Unlike Paule Ka, Casal's collections are available in Miami: Victoria Casal boutique, Merrick Park, Coral Gables. Check out more @ Victoria Casal

The difference between French fashion and ours...

Paule Ka

Amazing. Subtly demure. Just Beautiful. A little birdie told me about this brand and I just had to share. Enjoy!

kris/ti/an loo/bu/ton

...yes, yes, I DO mean Christian Louboutin. I have nothing to say about these weapons of mass seduction (re: they seduce your wallet and your date) since they need no introduction or explanation...just wanted everyone to sound intelligent knowing how to pronounce this super hard name!

Au Revoir!

The Fashion of Being Fit

No matter what you wear, it just isn't going to look good if you're not in good shape. Am I right or wrong? Oh, c'mon. You know it. There is definitely no denying it.

So maybe you can seek to find inspiration to work out and get healthy in this season's (helpful) trend of athletic wear and everyday clothing that is athletic wear-inspired.

Though not all of us may be able to afford to work out the designer way it doesn't mean it can't be done. I used to work out in a gym but then when I would go by myself I began to hate it since so many gym-goers like to show-off and get competitive at the gyms I've frequented in the past. I also hate hate hate all-female gyms because it really becomes some kind of gossip hour.

My solution? I trained with a personal trainer (Danny Morera of Building Body Dimensions) for a few months & when I stopped I simply trained from home by myself, using the techniques, tips, and personalized information that Danny gave me. Try it with the desired trainer of your choice and let me know how it works out or join a gym you find to be truly fun so you will actually show up (my favorites in Miami Beach are Johnny Rock Fitness in the Roney Palace and Crunch! on Washington Ave)...

Christian Dior : Haute Couture SS07 (Part 1)

My friend Mike e-mailed me this and my mouth fell to the floor. This is haute couture at it's finest. None of these pieces seem as if they could have possibly been hand-made. None of them. The origami, the makeup, it's all so on point. They're all like a bunch of China dolls in a play set. Pay close attention to the details - the embroidery, the embellishments, the models' movements and hand placements. Just watch and see for yourself...

*TWISTed*

This stellar haircut belongs to a cute Greek boy who was waiting in line in front of me at a downstairs bathroom in Twist, a long-running, popular gay nightclub and bar in South Beach. The zigzag patterns of yesteryear have been popping up on trendy male noggins lately with impressive improvements to the look. He's the first guy I've seen to wear the style with a 'hawk. Super New York.

Day 6: Winter Music Conference Fashion

This femme's footwear was a hit! I thought she jokingly put SWIMMIES around her ankles (which gives me some Halloween inspiration) so I asked her to pose for me. Upon further inspection of the pic I noticed that they are actually a part of her Pumas!!!

So I'm 9 Days Late On This One, but...

Here are some of the gifts I got for my birthday: loads of Sephora goodies, checkered Vans, a Dolce & Gabbana rosary. Not pictured: Tahitian silk bikini wrap, Tahitian silk beach quilt, plaid red brass hardware handbag, a Bohemian halter & leggings combo, and Chanel Swarovski crystal-adorned sunglasses. Yay! I don't expect much and my friends really blew me away this year. Unbelievable. Now I don't have to shop for a while... ; )

Madeline for Miu Miu?

This ad stopped me in my tracks as I flipped through the latest issue of ALLURE. I had to have been staring at it for a good 12 minutes. It's so avant-garde. Then I look at the photo credit and realize "holy s___!" - it's Lindsay Lohan! With the technicolor red hair and Peter Pan collar she makes me think what little French Madeline may look like if she went to Japan to model. No matter what people have to say about LL, she's sick. Her movies and her ad campaigns are super hot, she knows what she's doing. F**k the tabloids, this is ArT.

Online Shopping Done RIGHT

I'm not impressed by online shopping. It's tedious. It's boring. But today I was checking my e-mail and I saw the March Anthropologie online catalog (after February's already blew me away) and I couldn't believe how perfectly it was done. You can flip the pages easily at the corners & they turn with such a fluid, leisurely movement. Yeah... I'm a dork. But there are also lots of cool features like adding post stickies to pages to jot stuff down. If other brands follow suit I'll never leave home again!

"Goodbye, Anna"

I, like many others, am truly saddened by the news that hit on Thursday afternoon of Anna Nicole Smith's death. I found out in my Buying class mere miles from where she was staying - The Hard Rock Seminole Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. I've always wanted to be a GUESS model, just like her. It's so upsetting to see her go in what appears to be much the same fashion as her son.

Need this: Gucci minidresses

Tell me that these are not to die for:

... I DARE you to! Frida Giannini just keeps at it & her florals are sure to be classic vintage prints some day (see Gucci paisley mini dress at left). She has got me hooked on checking out the next new thing for Gucci. Miu Miu is now one of my favorites since this onslaught of mini dresses and sexy platforms that go with them Perfectly (yes, swoon) hit the runways. My favorite is a red brocade number with the cutest neckline and sleeves. Other faves: minis from See by Chloe, Marc Jacobs, and Temperley.

Now, for those of you, like me, that are not blessed with Bal Harbour cash, there are thankfully many options from other brands like Juicy Couture, Jovovich-Hawk, and even bebe. Check some out at Net-a-Porter and Neiman Marcus for starters.

I always accessorize with freshly shaved legs, and a cute pair of flats or sky-high sexy heels. Keep it sexy but avoid the skank look, thanks.
